While it is easy to look at all the successful bloggers in Nigeria and run off to start your own blog, it is important that you pay attention to the essentials of a successful blogging business else you will fail.
You’ve already failed enough courses in school please don’t add a failed blogging business to the list.
The success or failure of any business can often be traced to its foundation. In my previous article where I shared three ways to make money blogging in Nigeria, I mention that although there has been a rise in the number of blogs and bloggers in the country, NOT every blog makes money.
Today, I will be sharing two essential pillars of a successful blogging business in Nigeria that you can use if you want to start your own blog and make money right here in Nigeria.
So what are the two pillars of a successful blogging business?
#1 – Know who you’re creating content for
Yes. It’s not enough to want to create content, who are you creating this content for?
It’s not enough to want to create content, who are you creating this content for?
What are their likes and dislikes? What are they trying to accomplish?
What are they struggling with right now and what are their dreams? trying to accomplish?
What exactly are they trying to accomplish?
The more you know who you’re going to be creating content for, the better you’re going to be able to communicate to them and speak the language they will understand and relate with.
Warning: Don’t make the mistake of thinking you’re creating content for everyone – you’ll be disappointed.
I create content for fresh graduates who are seeking to start their own business in Nigeria. Will my content be relevant to nursing mothers and even fathers? Of course! But That’s only a bonus, I’m after the fresh graduates and that means I know exactly where to advertise my blog.
#2 -Know what you’re going to write about
After you’ve successfully decided who you’re going to blog for, the next thing is to determine what you’re going to write about for that person.
Don’t start a general blog.
Who goes to a doctor to help fix his car?
Choose an area and specialize in it. Be known for one thing. That way your readers will consider you an authority in that niche and pay attention to you. So when you want to sell premium courses in that niche, it will be easy to trust you with their money.
So if you’re about to get started in blogging business in Nigeria, these two keys will help you stay ahead and make the most money in the long term.
Go and implement them!
